FIRE EXTINGUISHERS

1-WATER FIRE EXTINGUISHERS

SUITABLE FOR:-

Class A Fires: Fires involving solid materials like:

NOT SUITABLE FOR:-
  • Class E Fires: Electrical fires. Using water on these can be very dangerous.
  • Class B Fires: Fires involving flammable liquids like petrol and oils.
  • Class F Fires: Cooking fires involving oil or grease, such as chip pan fires.

2-Foam Fire Extinguishers

  • AFFF foam fire extinguishers
  • AFFF fire extinguishers

  • Spray foam fire extinguishers

 

Foam extinguishers are one of the most common types of fire extinguishers. They are usually used for fires involving flammable solids and liquids, making them suitable for most businesses.

SUITABLE FOR:-

Class A Fires: These involve solid combustibles such as wood, paper, and textiles.

Class B Fires: These involve flammable liquids such as petrol, oil, and paint.

3- CO2 FIRE EXTINGUISHERS

CO2 extinguishers are best for electrical fires, but they also work well on flammable liquid (Class B) fires.

SUITABLE FOR:-

– Fires involving electrical equipment like computers or generators

4- DRY POWDER FIRE EXTINGUISHER

There are two kinds of dry powder fire extinguishers: standard and specialist. Standard ones can handle most fires, while specialist ones are made for specific metal fires. They aren’t recommended for use in small enclosed

  1. Standard dry powder fire extinguishers can be used for:

 

– Class A fires: Fires involving flammable solids like wood, paper, and textiles.

– Class B fires: Fires involving flammable liquids such as petrol, paint, or spirits.

– Class C fires: Fires involving flammable gases like propane and butane.

– Electrical fires: Fires involving electrical equipment such as computers and photocopiers.

Specialist dry powder fire extinguishers are for:

 

– Flammable metal fires involving lithium (use L2 powder extinguishers only).

– All other flammable metal fires (use M28 powder extinguishers only).

 

5-Wet Chemical (Class K)

Wet chemical fire extinguishers are the safest and most effective for cooking oil fires. They are essential safety equipment for professional kitchens.

SUITABLE FOR:

 

Cooking oils and fats (common in commercial kitchens and restaurants).

Particularly effective on fires involving large amounts of oil, such as deep fat fryers.
